Featured Poem - In a Dark Wood: First Flights
This is the beginning
for every forest, every tree,
and every nest.
Tapping within a shell,
sounds a secret drum.
As membrane pulls,
veins run, bloodless.
Light creeps within cracks.
Only in such tearing does a self
struggle, with wings unfolding,
with primal fingers, and hooked claws
scratching out a new sky.
