Event Recap and Photos from our Untitled Open Mic and Mill City Slam Team Qualifier | 12.07.22

Obviously, anyone who was at Untitled on this night would remember the big event: we had an honest-to-life marriage proposal, recited on the mic, and then followed on one knee in front of the intended. Breathe a sigh of relief everyone because the answer was “Yes,” but that’s all we’re going to say here, so gossips will have to seek out people in the know. Suffice it to say, we all felt honored to be in the community for such a declaration – and it was a real sign of the supportive nature and collective strength of that community. Like the liberal judges in our slam competition, we were racking up 10s in every direction.

Speaking of which, the slam was won by two of our most regular homies: Lauren Strainge and Kris Rouille. They both racked up so many 10s from the judges that it made score-keeping easy (quick, what’s 10 + 10 + 9.7?). We were glad to have a couple of FreeVerse! poets judging, having stayed over from the youth workshop that is now happening every Wednesday – including before Untitled Qualifier Slams on the first Wednesday of the month. If you are or you know a poet between 13 and 19, please refer them to our website or write to lowellpoetry@gmail.com for more info.
